Students will learn best practices for working safely with electrical power. Students will also apply proper Lockout/Tagout procedures by demonstrating the ability to safely isolate multiple energy sources to prevent workplace injury.

Students will apply arithmetic operations and algebraic reasoning to analyze and solve practical electrical trade problems. Students will also utilize trigonometric functions as they relate to the electrical trades.

Students explore electron theory, circuit fundamentals, Ohm's Law, and the relationship between electrical and magnetic phenomena.

This course introduces alternating current principles, including AC generation, transmission, and measurement. Students analyze resistive, inductive, and capacitive circuit behavior and explore reactive power. They will also develop an understanding of single-phase and three-phase power systems fundamental to the electrical trades.
